BEL Elevate Workforce Development Program

The BEL Elevate Workforce Development Program is Black Educated Lesbians’ career and professional development initiative designed to help Black lesbians and Black queer women strengthen their skills, navigate the workforce, and pursue meaningful career advancement.

BEL Elevate recognizes that professional success requires more than finding a job. Participants need access to practical skills, career resources, professional networks, and opportunities that support both immediate employment goals and long-term economic mobility.

Through BEL Elevate, participants can access workforce development opportunities focused on:

• Career Exploration & Planning – Identifying career pathways, transferable skills, professional goals, and opportunities for advancement.
• Resume & Job Search Support – Strengthening resumes, preparing applications, and developing effective job-search strategies.
• Interview Preparation – Building confidence and learning how to communicate skills, experience, and value to prospective employers.
• Professional Development – Developing workplace communication, leadership, time management, and other skills that support career growth.
• Digital & Industry Skills Training – Connecting participants with educational opportunities and online learning resources that can strengthen their qualifications.
• Career Workshops & Conversations – Providing virtual learning opportunities with professionals who can share practical knowledge about careers, industries, and workplace advancement.
• Workforce Resources & Referrals – Connecting community members with employment, training, certification, and career-development resources offered by BEL and trusted external organizations.

As part of BEL Elevate, eligible participants may have access to Coursera courses and professional learning opportunities, allowing community members to develop new skills, explore career fields, and complete training from universities and industry leaders. 

BEL Elevate is ultimately about economic mobility, professional confidence, and access. Whether someone is entering the workforce, returning after time away, considering a career change, pursuing a promotion, or simply ready to develop new skills, BEL Elevate provides a space to learn, prepare, and move forward.

Our goal is not simply to help our community find work. We want Black lesbians and Black queer women to have the tools and opportunities to build careers, increase their earning potential, develop leadership skills, and create greater economic stability for themselves and their families.
