The Mind, Body & Soul initiative centers the unique mental health needs of Black queer women by integrating therapeutic practices, cultural connection, and creative expression. This program is designed to support holistic wellness through a blend of mental health education, music therapy, meditation, and community care.
Our approach recognizes the interconnectedness of emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being and creates a healing space that affirms identity, fosters resilience, and encourages self-discovery.
Key components include:
• Mental Health Support – Access to culturally competent resources, workshops, and wellness check-ins led by professionals
• Music & Sound Healing – Interactive sessions using music as a tool for relaxation, joy, and emotional release
• Meditation & Mindfulness – Guided practices that support stress reduction, inner peace, and personal reflection

BEL Wealth & Legacy is committed to advancing the economic empowerment of Black Educated Lesbians by providing the financial knowledge and resources needed to build generational wealth, achieve financial independence, and support economic growth within our communities.
This initiative offers practical strategies through workshops, tools, and resources focused on:
• Budgeting and money management
• Credit education and improvement
• Investing and long-term financial planning
Through this program, members gain the confidence and skills to make informed financial decisions, break cycles of economic inequality, and create a legacy of financial stability.
Cultivating sustainable living, environmental justice, and ancestral connection within the BEL community.
The Soulroot Collective empowers Black Educated Lesbians (BEL) to lead environmentally conscious lives and become advocates for sustainability and climate justice within their communities. Rooted in our collective responsibility to the Earth and to one another, this initiative bridges environmental education with community healing, cultural preservation, and action-driven advocacy.
This program encourages members to reconnect with the land, honor ancestral traditions, and champion sustainable practices that nurture both people and planet.
Core focus areas include:
• Sustainability Education – Workshops and resources on eco-friendly living, waste reduction, and green alternatives
• Community Greening Projects – Local clean-ups, community gardens, and urban farming collaborations
• Environmental Justice Advocacy – Uplifting voices of Black queer women in climate justice spaces and promoting policies that protect our communities
• Cultural & Ancestral Wisdom – Honoring Indigenous and African diasporic practices that promote harmony with the Earth

BE Strong & Well is BEL’s health and wellness initiative designed to empower Black queer women to prioritize their physical, emotional, and mental well-being through community, education, and movement. This program fosters a culture of wellness that honors the whole self—mind, body, and spirit.
Grounded in the belief that wellness is a form of resistance and liberation, BE Strong & Well offers inclusive spaces for healing, nourishment, and support.
Program highlights include:
• Fitness & Movement – Group classes, challenges, and resources to promote strength, mobility, and body confidence
• Nutrition Education – Workshops, meal planning tips, and culturally relevant tools for sustainable, healthy living
• Mental Wellness Integration – Wellness check-ins, self-care planning, and strategies to manage stress and burnout

Leadership and Mentorship for Black Queer Youth (Ages 16–21)
EmpowerHER is BEL’s signature youth initiative designed to nurture the next generation of Black queer leaders through mentorship, education, and community-building. This program provides intentional spaces for young people to explore identity, cultivate leadership skills, and connect with mentors who reflect their lived experiences.
EmpowerHER is grounded in affirmation, empowerment, and advocacy—equipping participants with the tools to thrive personally, academically, and socially while embracing the fullness of who they are.
Program components include:
• Mentorship Connections – One-on-one and group mentoring relationships with Black queer professionals
• Leadership Development – Workshops focused on public speaking, advocacy, goal-setting, and confidence-building
• College & Career Readiness – Guidance on higher education, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and professional pathways
• Community Engagement – Volunteer opportunities, civic education, and youth-led projects that foster agency and impact
